You may be wondering "What exactly is TRiO?" TRiO refers to six programs (originally only three) funded under the Higher Education Act of 1965. This Title IV program is part of the series of programs in President Johnson’s War on Poverty, like Federal Financial Aid. TRiO Program are designed to encourage students to enroll in college and successfully complete degree programs. Services are available nation wide and have the potential to serve students from the 6th grade through a doctoral degree. Western Iowa Tech Community College houses three of the six programs. All services are offered at no charge to participants.
